Project Create | Summer Term

“Project Create has given me a chance to be creative, imaginative, learn new skills and produce something amazing at the end.” - Year 4 Child

Our Create Projects are taught in the summer term and carefully integrate Music, Art and Design and Design and Technology.

Art and Design Intent

Art and Design stimulates creativity and imagination. Our curriculum provides visual, tactile and sensory experiences that enable our pupils to communicate what they see, feel and think, by exploring colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. We provide opportunities for children to explore ideas and meaning through a range of artists and designers, while learning about the role and function of art within their own community and that of the wider world. We want to develop aspiring artists that have deeper appreciation and understanding of the role art plays in enriching lives.

Music Intent

Music is a powerful and unique form of communication that can impact the way we feel, think and act. The curriculum is designed to integrate music in a way that enables children to identify the complexities of music through analysis of a wide range of genres from different musical and cultural perspectives. We want to promote self-confidence and creativity and develop aspiring musicians that are able to develop an expressive and reflective appreciation of music. We provide opportunities for all children to explore, create, play, compose and perform music in a variety of contexts.

Design and Technology Intent

Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject that encourages children to learn, think and intervene creatively to solve problems both, as individuals and as members of a team. We encourage children to use their creativity and imagination, to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. We want to develop aspiring innovators and risk-takers that are able to reflect upon past and present designs, evaluate their uses and effectiveness, and use this to drive their own ideas. We ensure that, wherever possible, links are made across other disciplines such as Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computing and Art.
