Supporting Transition

At Elmhurst, we pride ourselves on our transition programmes.

Starting Nursery or Reception is a daunting experience for parents/carers and their children. To support your child's transition, we regularly share videos, pictures, and communication with our new parents via the ClassDojo app.

For pupils starting in the 2 Year Old or Nursery classes, we offer hourly stay and play sessions to allow children time to settle into their new learning environments. When possible, parents are invited to stay to settle their child and ask staff any questions.

For pupils starting in Reception, we provide them with a transition pack (shown in the picture below). This is the starting point of our communication between home and school. These transition packs will be sent home to every child, enabling them to get to know their new classrooms, adults and routines through stories and pictures and complete fun activities at home to prepare them for school.

Our teaching staff take extra care in getting to know your child to ensure a successful start to life at Elmhurst school.

We are always on hand to alleviate any concerns you may have and actively encourage parents/carers to message their child's new class teachers on ClassDojo or email the team on office@esglt.co.uk.
